Forever Etched Into Memory...to experience the impalpable on the Blue Marble

forever etched into memory

Deep into the farthest reaches of far west Texas, hot winds howl through the mountains as the desert cools, and the ghosts of the abandoned quick-silver Marsical Mine seem to eerily emerge to the back country adventurers.

There were many extended sojourns here over the years, as we recharged from city life to soundlessness Nature, relishing each new adventures in this vast unspoiled beauty of the Big Bend-the remotest and least visited of all U.S. National Parks.

It was in August 2014 that he and I were to experience the impalpable, recognizing things only exist to us to the extent that they participate in the forms that we can see. And see we did, left with questions unanswered of what's possible and the totality of life on the Blue Marble.

"Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of life is, but rather must recognize that he can only answer to life" V. Frankl.

My pal Glen is gone now. Forever etched into memory, I can see him clearly standing at the mine and need not help to recall that haunting night at Fresno Camp. His spirit will be with me on my return.
