Forgotten Unknowns

Summarily we anxiously pass them by with nary a glance at him and his dog, fearful of interaction. Our little world seems elusive and farther away than before as we race to escape this troubled soul. An ugly awareness of their journeys through the blue shadows of city streets offering little to the forgotten unknowns. Where the likes of them have but silent voices crying out to be heard. A consciousness creeps that we cannot help those that we do not know.

"And the compassionate servant-hearted commend themselves as God’s ministers."

2 Corinthians 6.

This image originated on a city street in 2018, where like the others I quickly passed them by. Abruptly I stopped, turned back and looked upon him and his dog, deeply unnerved. It took me four years later to finally paint what had disturbed me for so very long. A reckoning of a promise I made only to myself.

I have been looking for a home for this oil painting for sometime, and I was recent led to BEAUTIFUL FEET MINISTRIES here in my home town. On 7 May 2024, I met with the founders Sarah and Mike Myers. Having toured the facility and met with the wonderful ministery staff, I have now donated this painting to this remarkable organization. It will hang in the foyer at 1709 East Hattie, here in Fort Worth, Texas.
