Icons of the Permian Basin. oil on Belgian linen. 24"x30". 2024 Commission. Richard A. Sukup, artist.

Like the many before and after me, having spent my early career in the West Texas Permian Basin, where you learned from 'the hands', made your mistakes, and took the ribbings as young engineers do, I was to graduate to the demands of multi-national corporations in energy exploration and the search for new production off five continents.
Born and raised here amongst oilfield workers, cowboys, and lawmen family and relatives, I'm ever mindful of the lore and tradition of Texas; my engineer's coverall sleeves adorned with USA and Lone Star patches, a Flying Pegasus Red Horse patch amidst breast pocket, these logos left no doubt of my allegiances or where I was from.
Commissioned oil on canvas.
