WILDFIRE

Artist Inspiration:

Playing the record over and over, I listened to his LP "Blue Sky - Night Thunder".

Brush in hand, with an palette array of colors beside me, an aspiration beckoned me into an old forest, an eerie mist, a winter blizzard,

These beautiful haunting lyrics "she's coming to me I know, and on Wildfire we're both gonna go",

And a ghostly image arose on canvas - a young girl, her pony carrying her to her dying lover.

Such powerfully emotional lyrics in the song "Wildfire", by Michael Martin Murphey and Larry Cansler - BMI certified Platinum record - revered by both pop and western cultures alike.

My oil painting "WILDFIRE". My birthday gift to the extraordinary song writer/singer Mr. Michael Martin Murphey, presented to him at the gala opening reception of the Murphey Western Institute-Weatherford College.
